I TOLD YOU SO: THE SENATORS SUCKED THIS YEAR

Now that the Senators are officially eliminated from participating in this season's Stanley Cup play-offs, I can now say "I told you so."

I predicted last April, that the Sens would place a lot worse this season than last season though a lot people didn't share my opinion at the time.

As proof, here's an article I wrote nearly a year ago: The 2008-2009 Senators are Doomed!

"Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah, I told you so!"

If newly acquired Pascal Leclaire can have a healthier season, the Sens may improve a bit next year, but the question is whether or not they'll have enough secondary scoring beyond their top three forwards to push them into a play-off spot in 2009-2010.

  1. As a typical ignorant Leafs fan you make these assertions out of hate. Clear your mind of this hate and see that Cory Clouston has done a tremendous job of playing to the teams strengths. Secondary scoring has come, you would have noticed if you paid attention. Ryan Shannon and Nick Foligno will be solid secondary scoring next year. A couple trades and Sens will no doubt be in the playoffs. I cannot say the same for the ever languishing Leafs.

PS. How are your prospects looking? Hopefully, for the Leafs sake, Burke can do a much better job of drafting because that well (the Marlies) looks quite depleted!

  2. Dude, my hate for The Senators has nothing to do with them sucking this season. I don't think my opinion has effected them in any way. Listen to yourself! You're talking up Shannon and Foligno as solid second line players? Would they make the second line of any team currently holding a play-off spot? Doubt it.

Leclaire is a solid goaltender and if he stays healthy, The Sens may be better next season. Clouston has improved the team, but coaches don't have much job security in Ottawa these days. He's their 4th coach in 3 seasons.

The Marlies are like four points back of Binghamton right now. Since Toronto's in a tougher division, they're sitting in a play-off spot right now while Binghamton is not. The Marlies are led in scoring by Tim Stapleton (8th in the league) and Jiri Tlusty (17th in the league and a 1st round pick). I'd say they're pretty good prospects. The Leafs also just signed Christian Hanson and Tyler Bozak of the NCAA and both are expected to make the club next season. Hanson has a goal and an assist in his first 4 NHL games.

Binghamton's top scorer, Ilya Zubov, is 57th in the league. I'd say Binghamton is looking more depleted than the Marlies right now too since Shannon, Lee, Bass, Elliott and Bell have all been called up.

  3. I wasn't suggesting you could affect the performance of the Sens, that's just weird. If you watch the way Foligno and Shannon are coming along you would change your tune.

Hanson is nothing special, Bozak is overrated and your view on the Marlies/Baby Sens is skewed. I was also referring to the players there next year. Sens have some great talent coming up, especially on the back end.
